Golden Hour Shoot

2 hours · Intermediate

What you'll learn

Light is everything. In this two-hour field session we chase the best ninety minutes of the day — that window before sunset when Colorado turns the sky amber and every subject looks like it was lit by a professional. I'll show you how to position yourself relative to the light, how to adjust your settings as it shifts, and how to make images that hold that warmth when you look at them later.

You'll come away with a full gallery of shots taken in conditions that are genuinely hard to reproduce anywhere else. Garden of the Gods at golden hour is not something you see in a classroom.

Who this is for

You understand your camera already. You know what aperture does. You're past Auto, but your shots still don't look the way you imagined them. This session is about translating technical knowledge into images that actually move people.

If you've taken my Beginner Basics workshop, this is the natural next step. If you've been shooting on your own for a while and want to push further, this is where we go.

What to bring

Your camera, a fully charged battery, and your longest lens if you have one. We're shooting real light at a real location, and compression adds drama. A tripod is optional but welcome.

Wear layers. Colorado evenings drop quickly after sunset, and we'll be out until the light is gone.

What to expect

Up to eight participants per session, kept small so I can work with each of you individually as the light changes. We'll start before the golden window opens so you can get set up, and I'll walk through what to look for as the sun descends. Then we shoot.

I'll move between participants during the session, offering real-time feedback and adjustments. At the end, we'll take a quick look at the shots together and talk about what worked. You'll leave knowing exactly what you did right and what to try differently next time.
